Plasticity (2013)

Plasticity (2013) is a video artwork and set of postcards that I made in Singapore as a participant in an artist-residence programme at LA SALLE College of Art. Walter Benjamin inspired the programme’s theme of ECHO: The Poetics of Translation, which we responded to during the residency. In this work, I responded to the socio-economic landscape of the city: urban sprawl and laid concrete surrounded by natural and economic eco-systems. The work combines my footage of the city with elements of writing by Catherine Malabou, Mark Fisher and Milton Friedman. I later showed the work as a video installation with accompanying postcards for the Texas State Galleries 13th Annual Alumni Invitational Exhibition in 2013.
